Established in 1913, Ningbo No. 1 Hospital is an extensive and nationally three grade hospital with 199 senior professional and technical staff and 760 beds. It has nearly 860,000 outpatients and 16,000 inpatients every year. And the International Medical Treatment and Health Care Center is now under construction right in the hospital.

1. Department of Gastroenterology: It provides the treatment of digestive diseases of all kinds with some advanced instruments like electronic gastro scope and intestines mirror. Its endoscopic technology has developed from diagnostic stage to therapeutic one. It also involves radiation treatment for the digestive diseases at a large scale.

2. Department of Cardiology: It provides the treatment of cardiovascular diseases of all kinds. In recent years it has developed the endocardio technology, which is comparable to those in the leading hospitals throughout the whole country. It also applies PACT and stent implantation. This makes it possible for patients with acute myocardial infarction to survive. The rate of rescue success reaches 96%, which has reached internationally leading level.

3. Department of Orthopaedics: Ningbo Orthopedics Research Institute and the Therapeutic and Research Center of Artificial Joint are also in the hospital. Its technology of artificial cone and joint changing has proved effective with good results. And the technology of neck multi-segment tumor excision and artificial joint changing has been among the leading ones in the country.

4. Department of Hematology: which is pretty capable of diagnosing and treating diseases like leukemia, malignant lymphoma, aplastic anemia. It is the first in Ningbo to carry out the extracorporeal stem cells transplantation.

5. Department of Iconography: It has advanced image equipments for diagnoses and treatment such as 1.5T super conductive magnetic resonance, spiral CT, large-scaled DSA machine, digital gastrointestinal machine and digital image forming system on the computer, etc.. We have been working on interventional radiology and many of the technologies are the leading ones in the country.
